This “Abnormal Situations” (Нештатные Ситуации) procedures manual was used onboard Soyuz TMA-18M during Expedition 45/46. It was part of the “Onboard Documentation” (Бортовой Документации) for the Soyuz spacecraft—a set of color-coded manuals covering all operational procedures taking place during the various phases of flight.
This manual spent 181 full days in space, from 2 September 2015 to 2 March 2016. All annotations are in my own hand and were written while on orbit. A signed certification of flown status was added to the reverse of the front cover after the mission by Commander Volkov.
This particular manual covers various “emergency scenarios” that might occur during flight. Volkov kept it in his lap throughout undocking and descent from the ISS, for quick access should any unusual situations arise. On descent, he was accompanied by Astronaut Scott Kelly and Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, who had just completed their historic “Year in Space” mission. This book can be seen in the onboard footage of our return to earth, as featured in the Emmy Award winning TIME documentary “A Year in Space.” The photo of Volkov holding this book during descent from the ISS comes from this film.
Accompanied by two signed COAs from Sergei Volkov, as well as numerous photos of his signing and certification of the manual.
Comes with Orbital Artifacts COA and 100% guarantee of authenticity, as well as the Volkov COAs described above.
